PennSCORE Peer-to-Peer Training Available
PennTRAIN’s PennSCORE program produced a cadre of certified trainers that are available for driver training at peer transit systems in Pennsylvania. Your system may need driver training in one of the areas listed below. If so, this program is simple and inexpensive to use. The available courses are: Passenger Assistance--Driver training in communicating with people with disabilities and techniques for assisting riders with disabilities. Includes lift and ramp use and wheelchair securement procedures. Course length: typically one-half to one-day. Coaching the Van/Bus Driver--Defensive driving techniques through situational analysis. Training covers coaching van and bus operators on their driving practices. Course length: one-half day. Safety Orientation--Concerns drug and alcohol issues, blood-borne pathogens, accident investigation, evacuations, rescues, and fire safety. Course length: one-half day. Driver Wellness--Covers the effect of stress on health and relationships, understanding and avoiding conflict, and other health issues. Course length: one-half day. Customer Service--Deals with service and responsibility, communication and attitude, coping skills, customer service situations, and passenger comfort. Course length: one-half day. |
